03.18 bodytext
we go through big life challenges — so-called transformations — that ask us to level up. but to level up we need anchors. a structure. something we can return to. because no matter how brilliant we are, we are still fragile human beings. we lose ourselves. we overthink. we disconnect. we forget what we feel.
we need a foundation strong enough to hold us when everything else is in motion.
the “tool kit” looks different for everyone. different items. different shapes. different materials.
but one thing is certain: we cannot look past the body. the body is given.
first comes the body and then everything else. especially for those of us who’ve been asked to override our bodies, suppress our instincts, intellectualize our feelings — and let’s be real, this is most of us — it becomes essential to find ways to continuously come home.
most women writers became known for confession. diaries, memoirs, poems, letters. we have long survived this world through writing — to exist. to not disappear. to create ourselves again and again.
writing has always been a way back.
WHAT IS
bodytext is not a writing course or a workshop series. it is a private space where women regularly write together, without the goal of becoming professionals. we sit to take up space on the page. to establish or deepen contact with ourselves — our thoughts, our bodies, our lives as they are. we return again and again. over time, something stabilizes, clarifies, perhaps softens. the practice deepens because we keep going. it becomes a practice. it’s planted in continuity.
bodytext is for women who feel the urge to carve out space where they can simply be.
whether you’ve been writing for years or have barely begun.
you might be an artist, a mother, a professional, a thinker, a deep feeler — or someone who has never shared her writing before.
you might feel a bit all over the place, creatively blocked, intellectually overstimulated but emotionally distant. you might crave depth and tired of drama. intimacy without the need to show off. a place where others feel the same.
your background, age, education or creative identity do not matter here.
this space is for women who want to build a practice they can return to daily — especially when life feels uncertain.

THE GUIDE
bodytext is facilitated by dòri varga hungarian artist. my practice centers writing, visual media, sound and the body.
i don’t teach writing and i’m not a coach or a therapist.
i’ve built my life around writing as a way of thinking, surviving and staying connected to myself. i hold this structure because i live this practice.
i am here to hold the space and to participate alongside you.

bodytext is an online writing salon. a place where we meet the page as a mirror for the body.
through gentle guidance, approach suggestions, a large spectrum of prompts, conversation and shared space, we explore the terrain the erotic essence which shapes our lives.
this space is not here to make you a “better” writer. bodytext is about establishing or reengaging in active dialogue with yourself through a daily writing practice.
-
women. mothers. artists. thinkers. deep feelers. those moving through change. those craving a deeper relationship with themselves but don’t know where to start.
you do not need to be a writer or aspire to become a writer.
-
no. bodytext is not about the skill of writing, but about expression. the page is a private space where you can release, question, confess, imagine, and remember who you are.
-
each month we explore a theme. you do this solo for the most part, then we gather on zoom to experience together. during the call you aren’t obligated to share your writing, but just know that the space might inspire you to do so. when we share from such a private space, doors open to new possibilities. you might find that taking this risk is worth it while aiming to connect with parts of you.
ultimately you arrive into bodytext to build a practice of listening to and be in conversation with yourself, while connecting with others about their similar experience.

bodytext moves through the raw territories of the life lived as a woman: creativity, desire, motherhood, grief, identity, relationships, power, birth, death, rebirth, emotions etc. anything that lives in the body has a place on the page. we are focused on the body and expressing from that place. i recommend looking into writing from the body genre to understand this approach-world better.

once the experience opens, it moves forward. we keep doors open for 5m past 10am pst. if you arrive late, we won’t be able to let you in. we really encourage attending live, as the sessions are meant to be experienced together. that said, we know life gets busy and time zone differences can make it difficult. the first guided portion of the session with dóri will be recorded (excluding group sharing) for those who are unable to join live.
-
no. bodytext is a sort of artistic space hence it is based in joining in on dóri’s already existing daily practice. if you have been curious to build a creative practice of some sort, this can be a good start.

writing has been one of the most accessible ways for women across time to express themselves in the most free and unapologetic way. girls and women have been long surviving and creating themselves into existence through journaling and writing while the world deliberately told them to shut the fuck up — bodytext lives inside of the women’s liberation movement, cultivating an environment where we together free ourselves from what the world is expecting us to be.
